PLEASE REMEMBER ME...

Kent-18 yrs

WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU

Please Remember Me…

Is a campaign to remind each other about the valuable lives of those teens who have passed because of addictive behavior.  Whether the loss was because of alcohol or drug use, anger or fear, self-destruction or misunderstanding, it is a crucial time to offer a safe place for all teens to receive unconditional support.

Teen Addiction Anonymous, the first 12 step program created and edited by teens for high schools and youth support agencies, is a program that can offer help.  It is an opportunity for teens to run meetings with a facilitator, to find a second chance for themselves and their friends.  Confidentiality is protected because teens focus on positive change and not their mistakes.

As one 17 year old stated, “We can’t do anything about yesterday, but we can make today a better day.”

Arizona SADD, Students Against Destructive Decisions, is joining this campaign to provide public awareness about the losses within this generation, and hope for positive individual change.

Although addictive behavior is part of human nature, it can also be self-destructive.

It could include: smoking, drinking, anger issues, putting yourself down, bad relationships, eating disorders, co-dependency, and more.  Teens, however, chose not to discuss these addictions at meetings.  They decided to concentrate on ways to deal with life issues while offering each other unconditional support.  Teen AA was a beginning for hope and healing.

To those teens whom we have lost…

You were never a percentage, a number, a statistic.

You were our children, our brothers and sisters, our friends.

        You have our commitment.

          You will never be forgotten.

             You will not be ignored.

You have taught us that we need to do more.

Check out www.teenaddictionanonymous.org and then commit to starting Teen AA in your high school.  The only requirement to participate is “an interest in changing a habit that is causing personal damage.”
